LEE COUNTY, Fla. — A bus attendant was arrested for child abuse after slamming a Lee County student's head into a school bus window with extreme force.
Video of the Nov. 6 incident shows Shuntavious Smith, 40, of Lehigh Acres, sitting with the victim at the rear of the bus. The victim is seen moving his arm toward Smith's face just before he slams the child's head into the bus window. The child begins to cry immediately.
Witnesses confirm hearing a loud bang and Smith stating the child hit his head on the window, according to reports.
The child was treated at Golisano Children's Hospital.
Smith provided a written statement confirming his reaction to the victim touching his face and "pushing him away," according to reports.
Smith was arrested Nov. 12 for Child Abuse.
The Lee County School District has confirmed Smith is a bus attendant, and that he was immediately removed from duty and suspended pending an investigation.
