Lee County addresses Hurricane Irma debris pick up

Posted

LEE COUNTY, Fla.—The Solid Waste Department is urging residents to keep hurricane debris and household trash separate.

The county will also pick up regular weekly yard waste, but large debris from the storm is a separate issue.

Your regular waste should be picked up on its normal schedule by now.

Officials are also asking you not to bag up hurricane debris on your curb.

“We don’t want anything in the bag that's going to be collected by the storm debris contractor because they're just going to mulch it”, says Molly Schweers from the Lee County Solid Waste Department. She adds they don’t want plastic or garbage to end up in the mulch.

You are also asked to put only recyclables in your recycle bin.
