PUNTA GORDA, Fla.-- Former Punta Gorda police officer Lee Coel will be in court for his arraignment hearing Monday. He is charged in the death of a woman during a citizen’s academy class.
Investigators say back in August, Coel shot Mary Knowlton with a gun which was supposed to be loaded with blanks. However, instead the gun had live ammunition instead.
Coel has since been fired from the Punta Gorda Police Department.
His arraignment is expected to take place at 8:30 A.M.
