LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- A man who prosecutors say admits to being a member of the “Lake Boyz” gang will spend more than 10 years in prison.

Gerrell Banks pleaded no contest Tuesday to a racketeering charge. Banks was sentenced to 10.5 years in prison followed by 10 years of probation on that charge.

He was also sentenced for an attack on an inmate with a broom handle and robbing him while he was in jail on the racketeering charge.

He was sentenced to 10.5 years in prison for the robbery, followed by 5 years of probation. He was also sentenced to 5 years in prison for the battery, followed by 5 years of probation. These sentences are to be served concurrent to the sentence for the R.I.C.O. Conspiracy case.

Prosecutors say there are still nine Lake Boyz defendants waiting to be prosecuted.
