Jury finds North Fort Myers man guilty in child abuse case

NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. — The man accused of murdering a two-year-old boy in June 2017, has been found guilty.

Damien Palmer, 24, was watching the two-year-old while his mother was at work.

Palmer called the mother and told her that her son was acting “weird.” When she arrived, he appeared to be having a seizure.

The child was later flown to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami due to the severity of his injuries.

Upon further investigation, it was found his injuries were inflicted by the mother's boyfriend from physical abuse.

Damien Palmer was charged with Second Degree Murder and Aggravated Child Abuse.

He faces life in prison.

Sentencing is scheduled for April 8th, 2019.
