Volunteers in our community jumping into action to help students struggling with mental health.
Right now, calming tools counselors use to help students in Lee County are in high demand. When members of the Junior League of Fort Myers heard about it, they stepped up to the plate.
They started assembling calming caddies filled with trauma reaction cards, feeling identification cards, sensory toys, bubbles, crayons, sanitizers, and coloring books to help schools.
With the help of the community, the Junior League was able to collect 10 caddies.
“These caddies will be distributed in local schools in our county to help better equip teachers with calming tools to assist students in need. The Kits will be delivered in the next few weeks, and we hope to receive the same positive feedback that our members gave us,” said Courtney Butts, Community Director.
