CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. — The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office is partnering with Habitat for Humanity to give hands-on training to jail inmates.
Inmates learn new job skills by building homes with the organization, which will then benefit a family in need.
The program's first build started in August.
It was so successful another team started a build this month.
About ten detainees can participate on each build day and are supervised by detention staff and construction staff as well.
