Impaired driver crashes and leaves behind property damage

CAPE CORAL, Fla. - An impaired driver crashed into several pieces of property. Police then said he tried to get away but was found hiding in a boat.

Cape Coral Police responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash at the 5400-block of Skyline Blvd.

The Ford F-150 struck three mailboxes, crossed the center median, where it struck a sprinkler control and several trees and fixed landscaping.

An officer determined Michael Fahey was impaired and in possession of Suboxone without prescription.

Fahey was arrested and asked to submit to a breath test. Fahey refused. He was charged with 6 counts of leaving the scene of a crash with property damage, 6 counts of DUI with property damage, 1 count of DUI, 1 count of prior refusal to submit to a chemical test, 1 count of possession of drug paraphernalia, and 1 count of possession of a controlled substance.
