Immokalee High School teacher accused of inappropriate relationship with juveniles

IMMOKALEE, Fla. — The Collier County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Collier County Public School teacher.

Travis Westberry, 30, is accused of having inappropriate relationships with two juvenile victims.

According to a Sheriff’s report, Westberry pulled up a chair to help the victim who is in tenth grade, with math homework.

Westberry then started rubbing her inner thigh. The victim said it was unwanted and pulled away. The victim said that it happened two prior times.

Westberry provided a statement to the Sheriff’s Office stating while helping the student with homework he admitted to showing the victim obscene material.

Westberry is charged with transmission of material harmful to minors to a minor by electronic device or equipment.

He is a teacher and boys varsity basketball coach at Immokalee High School.

The investigation began Tuesday after the victims disclosed information about Westberry to a CCPS staff member.

“On March 23, 2021, the District became aware of allegations of wrongful conduct involving an employee. The school administration notified the Collier County Sheriff’s Office. The District determined that it was appropriate to terminate the employee effective immediately, “ Chad Oliver, Executive Director, Communications & Community Engagement.

CCSO says the investigation is ongoing.
