Police were called out to Lady Slipper Avenue in North Port overnight after someone inside a home heard shouting down the hall, followed by gunshots.
We're told when first responders walked in they found the bodies of a couple in their 50s.
Officials said there were two relatives inside the home at the time and that one of them had called police.
Josh Taylor the Public Information Officer with the City of North Port said investigators believe this was an argument that led to a murder suicide.
“I think we have an idea, but it just a matter of…you know… it would be too early to give those details at this time, we still want to make sure were hearing from anybody who may have been in contact with those individuals leading up to this incident as well as all of the and forensic evidence that we gather”, said Josh Taylor.
Investigators added that the couple had a rocky marriage and that this was an isolated incident and neighbors have no reason to be concerned.
