FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Police have made several arrests following a police chase Thursday that ended when the suspects crashed into a house.

The chase began when officers attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle near Romeo Lane.  A caller had reported that people in the SUV were armed with a handgun.

The driver of the vehicle, which was reported stolen in Lee County, did not stop and drove off at high speed, striking a Fort Myers Police cruiser.

The driver lost control of the vehicle while turning at Michigan Avenue and Pawnee Street and crashed into a house, causing structural damage.

The occupants fled but were quickly apprehended and the handgun was located.

The suspects are being booked and details of their charges will be announced soon.
