SAN CARLOS PARK, Fla., -- Firefighters were working to mop up hot spots Friday morning after a fire broke out in a home in San Carlos Park.

The fire broke out in the 3700 block of Unique Circle around 4:30 a.m. Friday.

According to firefighters at the scene, the woman that lived in the home is okay.  She was reportedly down the street when the fire started, and arrived to find smoke coming from the home.

A neighbor says he tried to help the woman put the fire out before fire crews arrived.

A cat was able to escape the fire on its own and was found outside and returned to the occupant.

The State Fire Marshal is investigating, but the cause is undetermined at this point.

Crews from San Carlos Park Fire Department, Lee County Sheriff's Office, Estero Fire Rescue, and Lee County EMS were on scene.
