SARASOTA, Fla. — Lori Dickinson said she hopes police find whoever is responsible for vandalizing her dead daughter’s memorial on Thursday.

Katarina Dickinson died in a hit and run crash on University Parkway and Lockwood Ridge Rd in Sarasota in February 2016.

Dickinson described her daughter as, “beautiful, talented, witty and smart."

"She was like the whole package," she said.

Yesterday a witness told Dickinson someone driving a truck drove onto her daughter’s memorial at the site of the crash.

She said judging by the tire marks left in the grass, she thinks the driver intentionally drove onto the median and then turned into the memorial.

The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the vandalism.

Dickinson said someone is trying to destroy her daughter’s memory.

“This person is trying to emotionally damage our family further,” she said.

This isn’t the first time the memorial was vandalized. Last year someone stole her plaque. But Dickinson said no matter how many times the memorial gets vandalized, it won’t stop the family from remembering her daughter.

“That was where my daughter took her last breath. We’re going to put it back up. We will continue to put it back up,” she said.

The family is offering a reward for any information on the hit and run or the vandalism. Anyone with information can contact the Manatee County Sheriff's Office or fox4now.com.
