FORT MYERS, Fla. — Fort Myers Police said the man who shot his wife multiple times at Mahogany’s Hair Salon Saturday is clinically dead. They said the victim is recovering.

Neighbors identified the shooter as Ronnell Mouzon, 41. They said he shot his wife Mahogany Mouzon 17 times.

Chris Moura watched the entire shooting unfold on from Max Drive Auto across the street. He rushed outside to see what was going on after he heard gunshots.

“Oh my God, unbelievable, I’ve never heard this I’ve never seen this. It’s like out of a movie,” he said.

Moura said hearing the shots brought him back to his own horrific experience.

He survived 11 gunshots himself in Brazil. he said he didn’t expect to see that kind of violence here in Fort Myers, but remains optimistic for Mouzon.

“I believe that God has a plan on her life,” he said. “Because you know, 17 shots, she don’t die. You think God blessed her like he blessed me.”

An FMPD spokesperson said the shooter shot at a responding officer after shooting his wife, and that officer shot back at him. He has been placed on paid administrative leave.

FMPD and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement said they’re still investigating exactly what led to this shooting.
