The Guadalupe Center in Immokalee was awarded $5,000 from Prestige Insurance Consultants Inc. through the 2017 Safeco Insurance Make More Happen Award program for making a positive impact on their community.
Every quarter, the Make More Happen Award is given to a charity in the community for their volunteerism.
The Guadalupe Center is committed to breaking the cycle of poverty through educating the children of Immokalee. According to their website, 97% of students in Immokalee's public schools qualify as economically needy, so they offer early learning, academic support and college prep.
Safeco's Make More Happen Awards target nonprofits in health and safety, education and civil service and award a charity every three months.
If the Guadalupe Center's story gets shared on social media 50 times or more through November 5th, they will receive an extra $5,000 from the award. To share their story, click here.
