CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. -- Extra patrols have been issued in a South Gulf Cove neighborhood where a girl reported an unknown man offering her a ride in his van Monday.
According to a Charlotte County Sheriff's Office incident report, the child's mother contacted deputies Monday night after her 12-year-old daughter reported the incident.
The girl says that just before 5 p.m., a white man in his 50's was seen driving a white van near her bus stop at the intersection of Calumet Boulevard and San Domingo Boulevard.
The girl says the van followed her for several blocks before the driver asked if she needed a ride. The girl said no and ran home.
The vehicle and driver's information was issued as a BOLO with deputies.
