FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Gulf Coast Humane Society is preparing for their biggest fundraiser of the year, Celebrity Chef Festival.

Last year, the event raised more than $300,000 for the shelter. GCHS ended 2019 with more than 2,300 pet adoptions.

Next week, a handful of popular chef's from Fort Myers, Cape Coral, and Naples are planning to whip up something special to help the good cause.

“The more our community, especially a growing community like ours, stands together in any little way the tighter the bond becomes. I think that defending kids and animals that are the most helpless in our local community, and these dogs are all local, then that’s another way people can give back," said GCHS celebrity chef, Harold Balink.

On Thursday, Jan. 30, GCHS will host the second annual event with a silent auction, open bar, and some of their furry ambassadors.

Tickets start at $125.
