FORT MYERS, Fla. -- A garbage worker was killed Thursday in a freak accident while collecting trash.

Troopers say 47-year-old Miguel Rodriguez was killed when he was pinned between two vehicles.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, Rodriguez was driving a garbage truck on Trawler Court in Fort Myers at 5:47 p.m. when he stopped and got out to load garbage into the truck.

While standing behind the truck, it began to roll back, pinning Rodriguez between the truck and a parked van. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
