Funeral services announced for FHP trooper who passed away this week

LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Florida Highway Patrol troopers have released the funeral and viewing information for a Fort Myers trooper who died earlier this week during a training exercise.

The viewing for Sergeant Daniel Hinton will be on Tuesday, February 26th from 4pm-8pm. It will be at Gendron Funeral Home, located at 2325 East Mall Drive in Fort Myers.

The next day, a full honors funeral service will be open to the public. It is Wednesday, February 27th starting at noon at Hertz Arena. Attendees are asked to arrive no later than 11am.

Sgt. Hinton went into cardiac arrest Tuesday during a training exercise in Fort Myers. He was transported to Gulf Goast Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Hinton served 32 years with the Florida Highway Patrol.
