BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. -- Friends, family, and community members gathered to remember 19-year-old Jordan Valero, Sunday, one day before the one year anniversary of his murder.
Jordan Valero was shot and killed in his Bonita Springs home on July 10th, 2016. His Family continues fighting for justice, as his killer remains at large.
The family held a community event at the Riverside Park, just a few blocks away from his murder, aiming to increase the SWFL Crime Stoppers reward money for information that could help crack his case. "He's an all around good kid, full of love," said his uncle Jose Galarza.
Galarza tells Fox 4 it has been a tough year since the murder. However, they hope the event not only raises money for the cause, but inspires other victimized families to take action and seek justice for their loved ones. "There isn't a playbook that says this is how you deal when you're faced with this in your family," he said. "Some people in the community can mirror the efforts that we've done, and get their loved ones murders and crimes solved."
The fight is not over, but the family is confident they will find closure. "We were strong before, and we're a stronger family now. We're not going to stop until we get justice," Galarza said.
Before the event, the Crime Stoppers Reward for this case was more than $5,000.00. Proceeds of the fundraiser have not been counted yet, but are expected to increase the reward even more.
