Fort Myers woman hit by SUV on Cleveland Ave. has passed away

UPDATE 2/1:
A woman who was hit by an SUV on Cleveland Ave. just north of Betmar Blvd., in North Fort Myers, was pronounced deceased on Jan. 30.

The crash remains under investigation.


UPDATE 10PM:
A 32-year-old Fort Myers woman is in critical condition after being hit by an SUV while attempting to cross Cleveland Ave. in North Fort Myers.

The driver of the SUV, a 19-year-old woman, and two minor passengers in the vehicle reported no injuries.


A woman was hit by a vehicle near Betmar Blvd. and N Cleveland Ave., in North Fort Myers, causing closure of the northbound lanes.

Bystanders say a couple was arguing at a nearby Chevron gas station when the woman walked away and was struck attempting to cross the street.

A bystander, who claims to be a medical professional, rendered aid. She said at first she felt no pulse, but eventually was able to revive the victim.

EMS arrived and transported the woman to a nearby hospital.

Her condition is unknown at this time.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area and seek an alternate route.
