FORT MYERS, Fla. — Organizers for the Fort Myers Tip-Off says one non-student athlete has tested positive for COVID-19.

The third-annual Rocket Mortgage Fort Myers Tip-Off is scheduled for Thursday and Friday at Suncoast Credit Union Arena on the campus of Florida SouthWestern State College.

The two-day event features two of college basketball’s highest-ranked programs.

The group says all travel team parties were tested for coronavirus on Wednesday, November 26.

One person from Gonzaga University's travel party tested positive for COVID-19.

The group says organizers activated its medical protocols, and the Florida Department of Health conducted contact tracing measure.

Their investigation identified "two, close non-student-athlete Gonzaga contacts".

Fort Myers Tip-Off says all three people are now isolated in their hotel rooms and they are under the supervision of a medical team.

According to a press release, the medical staff from all of the participating programs say Thursday's games can still be played as scheduled.
