Fort Myers Police investigating two robbery scenes

FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Fort Myers Police Department is investigating two robbery scenes where purses were stolen from two different women on Saturday.

Police said the robberies took place near Deleon Street and Matthew Drive. The first robbery occurred on Matthew Drive, and the victim was approached by a black male demanding her purse who then fled in a white car with an accomplice around 1:00 p.m., according to police.

That car, which was stolen, was found abandoned nearby.

The second incident happened shortly afterwards was also a purse snatching by near DeLeon Street with a similar suspect description.

Police say there are no injuries to either victim, and FMPD is actively searching for the suspects.
