FORT MYERS, Fla — Chief Derrick Diggs, with the Fort Myers Police Department, is being accused of misusing resources that belong to the city.

The Florida Commission on Ethics believes Chief Diggs used his city purchasing card to buy boots, meals, and satellite radio for himself and others.

A full evidentiary hearing on the allegations will determine if a violation was indeed made.

The Fort Myers Police Department released this statement:

All the credit expenditures were appropriate and within city policy. Each receipt was forwarded to Finance and authorized. Chief Diggs will be transparent and fully cooperate with the review. The department is confident the facts will clear up any confusion around the credit card purchases.
