FORT MYERS, Fla. — UPDATE
Family and friends have confirmed the body removed from the lake is that of missing person Jardan Battle. Fort Myers Police listed him as a missing person just a few days ago.
Fox 4 was also told Florida fish and wildlife was on scene Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
Their presence, lead some people who live in the area to believe an alligator was the cause of death.
Neighbor, Sam Calero, who lives directly behind the lake says these Gators have always been here.
Calero says he’s never encountered one in the 5 years he’s lived here, but he explains, he’s seen how big they are.
"It’s insane, that in this peaceful little neighborhood, there’s so much going on, these gators back here man, they’re deadly," Calero said.
The Fort Myers Police Department and other agencies removed a deceased individual from a small lake at approximately 10 a.m. on Wednesday April 24, 2019 near Canal Street and Veronica Shoemaker Boulevard. A death investigation is underway.
