Fort Myers man facing multiple charges after crashing into LCSO vehicle

FORT MYERS, Fla. — According to Florida Highway Patrol, a Fort Myers man is facing DUI, and careless driving charges after he was involved in an accident with a Lee County Sheriff's Office marked patrol vehicle and another vehicle Sunday morning.

Gregory Caldwell, 50, of Fort Myers was traveling east on SR 80 in the outside lane. The marked Lee County Sheriff's Office patrol vehicle was stopped in the outside lane of SR 80 with emergency equipment performing a traffic stop on a driver in a 2002 GMC. Caldwell failed to stop, and struck the LCSO patrol vehicle. Subsequently, the patrol vehicle was pushed forward, hitting the GMC.

Caldwell is facing multiple charges, which include a DUI, property damage, and careless driving. The deputy is recovering from minor injuries.
