FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Religious groups across the nation are observing the National Day of Prayer on Thursday.
That includes leaders in Fort Myers, who gathered Thursday morning to take part in the 31st Annual Community Prayer Breakfast.
Coordinated by local faith-based organizations with support from the City of Fort Myers, the free event brings the community together in unified prayer. The program began at 7 a.m. at City of Palms Park,
Guest speaker Michael Hingson will inspire attendees with his story of surviving the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center with the help of his guide dog, Roselle.

Naples will also be hosting a National Day of Prayer event at 7 p.m. Thursday at Cambrier Park in downtown Naples.
