One week after a gunman killed 25 people in a mass shooting at a Texas church, places of worship in Southwest Florida are taking the necessary steps to protect themselves.
Riverside Church in Fort Myers added concrete barricades to the front of the building, near its entrance. The barriers are designed to prevent any kind of vehicle attack at the church.
The church tells Fox 4 these new barricades are just one of many security measures. The say they already have camera and a manual sign in sheet for kids and parents.
Some church members say the added safety features are necessary.
"It would have been very easy to drive right into the church and go right into the sanctuary, which would've been horrible. So I think it was a brilliant idea," says one churchgoer.
