Fort Myers car fire investigation

FORT MYERS, Fla.—The Fort Myers fire department and the State Fire Marshal are investigating a car that caught on fire near a home on Veronica S. Shoemaker Blvd.

Lee County Public Safety getting the call about the fire around shortly before 3 Wednesday morning. Several fire crews responded to the scene, quickly putting out the fire.

The Fort Myers Battalion Chief, David Jacobs, says because crews were able to stop the flames, the fire did not spread to a nearby house.

No word on what caused the fire. Fire investigators are not ruling out that the fire could be considered suspicious.
