FORT MYERS, Fla — A Fort Myers business owner has been indicted on federal charges after he was accused of using funds from the Payroll Protection Program (PPP) for his personal use.
Casey Crowther, the owner of Target Roofing & Sheets Metal Inc, pleaded not guilty in federal court on Wednesday.
A complaint against Crowther says he received more than two million dollars through the PPP loan on behalf of his company Target Roofing & Sheet Metal Inc.
It alleges that Crowther used the funds to purchase a new 2020 40 foot catamaran boat instead of using the funds to maintain payroll, mortgage payment, and retain workers.
Crowther is now being charged with one count of Bank Fraud, one county of False statement to a lending institution, and two counts of Illegal Monetary Transaction.
He now faces up to 30 years in prison.
