LEE COUNTY, Fla. – The Fort Myers city council is going to discuss the possibility of suspending the Fort Myers Police Department's internal affairs division.

The council is expected to talk about it Monday.

The Internal Investigations unit would be transferred to another independent firm or law enforcement agency.

The council would also request the city manager to work with Chief Diggs to resolve issues with the department.

This comes on the heels of the investigation into reported sexual misconduct by Captain Jay Rodriguez.

The city council meets Monday at 4:30 p.m.
