FORT MYERS, Fla-- The Fort Myers Police Department SWAT team is hosting its 4th annual Josh Hargis Ranger Ruck fundraiser this weekend. For 24 hours members from the SWAT team will run along the Edison Bridge in full tactical gear.
Team members said the event honors military members while also raising funds for the American Heart and Stroke Association.
"Last year we got close to 32 miles, so by the end of it there will be people with blisters, cramped legs and sore muscles," said Sgt. Walter Mitchell.
The team encourages the community to get involved. You can stop by a tent located at the yacht basin next to the Edison bridge anytime between 7am Saturday to 7am Sunday. The group hopes to raise between $2,000 and $3,000.
