MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. — Florida Power and Light is planning to build the world's largest solar-powered battery equivalent to about 100 million iPhone batteries.
It will be located in Manatee County just Southeast of Tampa next to one of the company's solar power plants.
FPL says that solar power plant will charge the battery system extending the life of solar energy.
FPL says the battery is part of a larger project to shut down a portion of the company's natural gas plant on the same property.
The energy company recently announced its plan to install 30 million solar panels across the state by 2030.
