LEE COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Gulf Coast University Police are warning students about safety and the internet.
According to University Police, over the last year, they have received an increase in harassment and sextortion incidents.
They have had sexual assaults from meeting through dating apps used for hookups.
On October 22, at 6:30 PM FGCU Police will be hosting a presentation to teach students safety tips while using dating apps and social media.
