Five-year-old killed in Lehigh Acres car crash

A five-year-old boy was killed in a two-vehicle crash that happened in Lehigh Acres Monday night.

The crash happened a little before 7:30 p.m. near the intersection of Sunset Road and Gunnery Road.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 17-year-old driver on Sunset Road ran through a stop sign at Gunnery Road and hit a northbound minivan.

The 17-year-old's pickup truck flipped after the two vehicles collided, but none of the four occupants in the truck were seriously injured.

The minivan ended up in a ditch, causing minor injuries to the driver and a 2-year-old passenger.  5-year-old Connor Green was also injured in the van and taken to Lehigh Regional, where he was pronounced dead.

Charges are pending in this crash.
