COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. -- A South Florida man is facing several charges including DUI after troopers say he passed out behind the wheel of a car while on Alligator Alley.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, troopers discovered a car stopped in the travel lanes near mile marker 72 of Alligator Alley in rainy weather Tuesday morning around 10:40 a.m.
Further investigation found 60-year-old Scott Griffin of Plantation at the wheel, passed out with an open bottle of Smirnoff vodka.
Griffin was arrested and charged with DUI. He refused to take a breathalyzer test.
Troopers say he is also charged with an open container violation, no proof of insurance, a failure to display a valid registration.
