SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla — Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash that claimed the life of a 28-year-old Port Charlotte woman.
It happened early Sunday Morning on River Road near Center Road.
Troopers say early Sunday morning, a 27-year-old woman from North Port City was driving a Honda Accord southbound on River Road.
The 28-year-old woman was in a Ford Focus driving northbound on River Road.
Troopers say the Ford Focus drifted into the southbound lanes of river road and was struck by the Honda Accord.
The driver of the Ford Focus was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver of the Honda Accord received serious injuries.
Troopers say criminal charges are pending.
