LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- There's potentially some big news for unsolved cases in Florida. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement just finished processing a backlog of sexual assault kits.

They got through more than 8,000, and found about 2,000 DNA matches that may help local police make some arrests.

Let's break the numbers down in Southwest Florida.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office had the most in our area with 332 kits submitted and 73 matches.

Fort Myers Police: 80 cases with 26 matches
Collier County Sheriff’s Office: 45 cases with 8 matches
DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office: 1 case with 0 matches
Naples Police: 6 cases with 1 match
