CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. — On Oct. 3, deputies arrived at a Deep Creek home to find a one-year-old unresponsive after falling into the family pool.

The child and a sibling were left in the care of their father, Shahzad Nazir Sayed Sr., as their mother worked.

Deputies say Sayed knowingly went to sleep, leaving the children unsupervised.

Numerous narcotics were located in the home and in the presence of the children.

Deputies say videos show the father weighing, packing, and distributing narcotics, often with a child in-hand.

Video also shows the children exiting the home on numerous occasions, which ultimately resulted in the one-year-old drowning in the family pool.

There were holes around the pool for safety screening, but no preventive measures were present, according to deputies.

Sayed, 26, was arrested Dec. 8, and is facing several charges including Aggravated Manslaughter of a Child.
