COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. -- Troopers responded to a fatal crash on the Alligator Alley portion of Interstate 75 early Monday.
It happened approximately 5 a.m. near mile marker 94 in the southbound lanes. That's just about 6 miles east of the Naples toll plaza.
The crash occurred in the median and no road blockage is reported in the area.
UPDATE (9:30AM) -- Troopers have identified the driver as 45-year-old Ryan Oliver of Fort Lauderdale.
They say he was driving westbound at 4:46 a.m. when for unknown reasons he drifted left into the median and then across the eastbound lanes, where his car hit a guardrail and drifted back across the eastbound lanes into the median.
Oliver was pronounced dead at the scene.
