COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. — One person is dead and another is injured after an accident in Collier County Thursday.
The accident happened on Oil Well Road near Oil Well Grade Road just before 12:30 PM.
A Florida Highway Patrol report says a driver, 20-year-old Emily Acosta of Hialeah Gardens, lost control of her car headed westbound, which began to turn counterclockwise. The vehicle went into the eastbound lane of Oil Well Road, where it collided with a truck driven by 44-year-old Francisco Salazar.
The vehicle came to a final rest facing a southeasterly direction on the northern shoulder.
Acosta did not survive, and her passenger, 21-year-old Kathryn Houbolt, is listed in serious condition.
Salazar had no injuries reported.
The crash remains under investigation.
