BOOKELIA, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash involving a cyclist on Stringfellow Road Monday evening.
Troopers say the female victim was riding a tricycle northbound on Stringfellow Road near Lolly Road around 5:19 p.m. and attempted to make a left turn.
The driver of a car failed to slow down for the cyclist and hit the rear of the tricycle.
The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
The car's driver, 71-year-old John Lackey, III of Bokeelia, was cited for Careless Driving.
The cyclist has been identified as 74-year-old Linda Potter of Bokeelia.
