FORT MYERS, Fla. – Thanks to efforts to fight child hunger, needy families in Southwest Florida will get food on the table after a community fundraiser.

A silent auction for the Fort Myers Police Department's Community Outreach Against Child Hunger (C.O.A.C.H.) raised more than $11,000 and hundreds of non-perishable food items.

The event was held on April 6th, at Millennial Brewing.

The program supplies food for underprivileged students of Franklin Park Elementary, especially with school closing for the summer.

C.O.A.C.H. is always seeking volunteers and donations of non-perishable food and money to replenish their supplies and increase their distribution. Anyone interested in donating or giving their time can contact Sgt. Jackie Garrett by email at jgarrett@fmpolice.com.
