SARASOTA, Fla. -- Troopers are investigating a motorcycle crash that killed an Englewood man on Interstate 75 in Sarasota and injured several other motorcylists.

Florida Highway Patrol says 56-year-old David Boland of Englewood was riding his Harley on I-75 on the Fruitville Road overpass in Sarasota with four other bikers when he lost control and hit a tractor trailer in the next lane over.

This all happened around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Troopers say Boland's crash caused the other bikers riding with him to lose control. All four were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

They have been identified as 55-year-old Roger Moore of Sarasota, 40-year-old Michael Houck of Sarasota, 51-year-old Donald Kidwell of Venice, and David Mashia of Venice.

Troopers say charges are pending the outcome of the traffic homicide crash investigation.
