SANIBEL, Fla. --- An endangered Snail Kite was released back into the wild after receiving treatment at the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW).

Staff at CROW released the male Snail Kite at Harns Marsh in Lehigh Acres on Monday after the bird was admitted on December 2, 2017.

The Snail Kite, which is listed as endangered both federally and locally in the state of Florida, sustained injuries consistent with being hit by a car.

The birds injuries included a fractured ulna on its right wing, fractured metacarpals on its lift wing and severe head trauma.

The CROW staff performed multiple anesthetic procedures and surgeries to repair the fractures.
