FORT MYERS, Fla. — According to a spokesperson, the Edison Mall in Fort Myers is temporarily closed "out of an abundance of caution".
Washington Prime, the mall's parent company, says they're working closely with the Fort Myers Police Department to ensure the safety of guests, retailers and employees.
They tell FOX 4 the closure is "due to the potential close proximity of protests."
The group says they will monitor the situation and work with local authorities to determine when they can reopen.
In a statement issued to FOX 4, the group did not say if the mall received any threats of violence.
