An 18-year-old Lehigh Acres man is facing DUI charges after a crash sent his passenger to the hospital.
Florida Highway Patrol said Rudy Ayala, Jr. was driving west on 23rd Street SW approaching Anita Avenue South in Lehigh Acres when he lost control of his car. They said the car ran off the road through the grass shoulder and over a driveway and went airborne, landing in a canal and colliding with a rocky embankment.
Troopers said his female passenger Enize Garza, 20, was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital with critical injuries.
Ayala was arrested on-scene and also taken to the hospital.
