NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. — Two people riding in a golf cart were taken to the hospital in serious condition after being hit by a car on Indian Creek Drive.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, the car was traveling southbound as the driver reached over to the passenger side floorboard attempting to find his cell phone. The vehicle veered into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with the golf cart, causing it to overturn.
The driver and passenger were ejected from the golf cart during the accident and landed in the street. Both are in their 70's and have been taken to a local hospital in serious condition.
The driver of the car was not injured.
