GOLDEN GATE, Fla. -- A driver plowed into a Golden Gate home early Sunday, leaving behind complete destruction.
The owner of the home, Barbara Miller, showed Fox 4 where the driver smashed through her garage, into a spare bedroom. Thankfully, Miller was not near the room and was not hurt. Miller's long-time friend, Viola, tells us it was a close call. "They broke her car, her car doesn't work anymore, her house is broken, and she's devastated," she said.
Miller's car is totaled, her home is without power and water, and her roof is in unstable condition.
The driver in this case, veered off the street into a neighbor's from lawn and swiped two trees before smashing into the home. People who live close by say speeding is common in the area. "Everybody's mail box gets knocked out around here," said neighbor Carlos.
The driver who caused all the damaged, not only survived, but was able to flee the scene on foot. If you have any information regarding who this person may be, call police, or SWFL Crime Stoppers at 1(800) 780-TIPS.
