A driver, deep in conversation, struck a Fort Myers Police car that was parked on the side of the road Friday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers say 22-year-old Dedrick White was texting in his Range Rover while traveling down Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Friday night shortly after 10 PM.
As White approached Ortiz Avenue, he struck a Fort Myers Police car parked on the side of the road.
The crash caused the police car to hit a Toyota Carolla parked in front of it.
Troopers say the officer was on scene with emergency equipment activated investigating a previous crash.
White was arrested and charged with Careless Driving and No Insurance.
No injuries were reported.
